Brief Introduction

Silver sulfadiazinis a sulfonamide / silver salt anti-bacterial agent used as a topical ointment for the treatment of burns. Found that Ag sulfadiazine may increase the duration of treatment - wounds may take longer to heal if treated with this agent, and therefore is not recommended by the authors of the Cochrane systematic review. Silver sulfadiazine is usually made as a 1% medicated cream or aqueous suspension. Brands are silvadene (generic trademark), silverex, silverol, silvazine, flamazine, thermazene, burnheal, and SSD.
