Guanfacine hydrochloride is a central antihypertensive drug, and its pharmacological effect is similar to clonidine. It is a kind of center α 2 receptor activator, activation center α 2 receptors, reduce peripheral sympathetic activity, resulting in decreased blood pressure. The antihypertensive effect of this drug is weaker than that of clonidine.
