Nandrolone undecanoate is an injectable form of the anabolic steroid nandrolone. The ester here is one carbon atom more than capric acid, so it forms a very persistent drug deposit at the injection site. With due attention to carrier, concentration, volume, and pharmacokinetics, it may even be possible to formulate this steroid into a very long-acting pharmaceutical preparation similar in appearance to testosterone undecanoate (Nebido). Even without an extended therapeutic window, nandrolone undecanoate can be comfortably injected every 1 to 2 weeks, reflecting its slow-acting nature. Although no longer available for athletes and bodybuilders, the drug was once favored due to its ability to promote slow and steady increases in lean body mass with minimal estrogenic and androgenic or androgenic side effects.
