Triphenyl methanol is an organic compound, belonging to alcohols and aromatic groups. Its chemical formula is (C6H5) 3coh or ph3coh or c19h16o, which is often abbreviated as troh. It is a white crystalline solid, insoluble in water and petroleum ether, but soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, ether, acetone and benzene, and soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid and yellow. In strong acid solutions, it produces a strong yellow, due to the formation of stable "triphenylmethyl" carbon positive ions.
