Photoinitiator 2959 has been tested and can be used in UV curing formulations for wood, metal, plastic and paper surfaces. The hydroxyl functional group in the molecule improves the solubility of photoinitiator 2959 in the formulation of waterborne coatings. Photoinitiator 2959 has lower volatility and odor than photoinitiator 1173. Importantly, the active hydroxyl group of photoinitiator 2959 is easily grafted onto the polymer molecule, making its processing more convenient. Due to its unique properties, photoinitiator 2959 is especially recommended for UV formulations that need to evaporate water through high temperature and air flow before curing.

Acrylonitrile is an important monomer of synthetic fiber, synthetic rubber and synthetic resin. Polyacrylonitrile fiber (acrylic fiber) is made from acrylonitrile. Its performance is very similar to wool, so it is also called (synthetic wool). Nitrile rubber can be prepared by copolymerization of acrylonitrile and butadiene. It has good oil resistance, cold resistance, wear resistance and electrical insulation, and its performance is relatively stable under most chemical solvents, sunlight and heat. ABS resin prepared by copolymerization of acrylonitrile with butadiene and styrene has the advantages of light weight, cold resistance and good impact resistance.
