Cyclopentanone is a colorless and transparent oily liquid with a special ether and slightly peppermint like odor. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, ether and acetone. Cyclopentanone is a kind of organic chemical raw material, which is also a raw material for medicine and perfume industry. It can be used to prepare new perfume methyl hydrojasmonate, as well as for rubber synthesis, biochemical research and insecticide. For example, cyclopentanone and valeraldehyde are used as raw materials to form amyl cyclopentanone through hydralic condensation and dehydration. Then, selective catalytic hydrogenation is used to produce amyl cyclopentanone. Amyl cyclopentanone has strong floral and fruity fragrance, and has jasmine fragrance. It can be used in the daily flavor formula, and its dosage can be less than 20%.
