Butanoic Anhydride; Butanoyl Butanoate; Butanoic Acid, Anhydride; N-Butyric Anhydride
Brief Introduction
Butyric anhydride is a colorless and transparent liquid, soluble in organic solvents such as ether. It decomposes into butyric acid in water and reacts with alcohol to form esters. Butyric anhydride is mainly used in the preparation of butyrate and tanning agent. It is the raw material for the preparation of cellulose butyrate, butyrate and perfume. It is also used in medicine as the raw material of gallbladder contrast agent iodine pantothenic acid and solvent. Butyric anhydride can be obtained by co-heating butyryl chloride and sodium butyrate, or by exchanging butyric acid with acetic anhydride.
