Brief Introduction
Octadecylamine is a kind of aliphatic amine produced in large quantities in industry. It is slightly soluble in acetone, kerosene and methanol, easily soluble in carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, ethanol, isopropanol and toluene, soluble in alcohol, ether and benzene, insoluble in water, alkaline, and can form adducts with hydrochloric acid, which is irritant to human skin and mucous membrane. This product is mainly used as organic synthesis intermediates, for the production of octadecane quaternary ammonium salt and a variety of additives. For example, thickener of cationic grease, mineral flotation agent, emulsifier of synthetic resin, pesticide and asphalt, fabric antistatic agent, wetting agent, waterproof agent, surfactant, bactericide, color photo coupler, corrosion inhibitor of oil refining unit. Stearic acid reacts with ammonia to form octadecylnitrile, which is then catalytically hydrogenated under pressure to further reduce enamine to obtain octadecylnitrile.
