Brief Introduction
Sulfolane, also known as tetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide, is a colorless and transparent liquid. It is an excellent aprotic polar solvent and can be miscible with water, acetone, toluene, etc. It is also an ideal reagent for aromatics extraction in petrochemical industry. Because of its high thermal stability and stability to acid and alkali, it is an excellent solvent. It can be used to extract aromatic hydrocarbon from aliphatic hydrocarbon and remove acid gas from gas mixture. Sulfolane can be used as a solvent for polymer compounds such as polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitrile copolymer, polyfluoroethylene, etc. it is used for spinning, film making, etc. It can also be used as plasticizer of cellulose ether, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide and additive of acrylic fiber spinning. Others can also be used for the separation of fatty acids, extraction of non cellulose components from wood, etc. Due to its high boiling point, good thermal stability and non corrosiveness, sulfolane can be used as condenser carrier. Adding to the press oil can improve the corrosion resistance, flame resistance, thermal stability, viscosity and other properties.
