Application Of Hexanal：

1. GB 2760-96 stipulates that it is temporarily allowed to use edible spices. It is mainly used to prepare apple and tomato essence.

2. For Wittig and aldol reactions. It is also used as a reagent for gas chromatography.

Description Of Hexanal：

Hexanal is a colorless liquid, and irritant, rapidly oxidized in the air and polymerized with concentrated inorganic acids. Similar to general fatty aldehydes, it can be oxidized to hexanoic acid and reduced to hexanol. The amyl Grignard reagent reacts with triethyl orthoformate to produce diethanol, which is hydrolyzed and used as a chemical reagent.
