Usages: One of B vitamins. Cyclic hexanol has 9 isomers, of which only racemic inositol has physiological effects. A phospholipid widely distributed in cells as a component in the form of phosphatidylinositol. In plants, it exists in the form of inositol calcium magnesium hexaphosphate of phosphate ester. It is mainly used as a nutritional supplement.
Appearance: White fine crystal or crystalline powder. Odorless and sweet.
Characteristics: Stable in air, stable to heat, strong acid and alkali. Its aqueous solution is neutral to litmus. No optical activity. Dissolve in 61ml water per gram. Insoluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform.
