It is mainly used to prepare anthraquinone dyes, drugs and determine nitrite. It has slight toxicity. 1-aminoanthraquinone is an important dye intermediate, which can be used to prepare vat dyes, acid dyes, disperse dyes, reactive dyes and direct dyes.
