English Name: Sodium Monofluorophosphate
CAS No.: 10163-15-2
Molecular formula: FH3NaO3P
Molecular weight: 123.98
EINECS No.: 233-433-0
Sodium monofluorophosphate is a white powdery solid with a melting point of about 626 ℃. It is easily soluble in water and has strong hygroscopicity. Its solubility in 25 ℃ water is 42%. There is no corrosion. The pH value of the 2% aqueous solution is 6.5 ~ 8.0. The aqueous solution is slowly hydrolyzed when boiling, which can lead to the reduction of bound fluorine and the increase of free fluorine, so the purity is reduced.
Sodium monofluorophosphate is widely used, mainly in toothpaste additives, concrete corrosion inhibitors, food, medical and other aspects.
As an anti-caries agent and tooth desensitizer, it generally accounts for 0.7% - 0.76% in the toothpaste formula. At present, sodium fluoride has been basically replaced abroad, and it has gained an advantage in the competition with stannous fluoride. It is also used to clean metal surfaces and as a flux. It is also used to make special glass. It is also used as a fungicide and preservative.
