Appearance Blue black powder. Insoluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in benzene, soluble in acetone, nitrobenzene, tetrahydronaphthalene and xylene. It is red purple in concentrated sulfuric acid and produces blue purple precipitation after dilution.
