Uses
Industrial applications: 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde/O-Chlorobenzaldehyde(OCBD) can be used as an intermediate for dyes and pigments, used in the production of acidic dyes, photosensitive dyes, photochromic materials, red and orange pigments, etc.
Agricultural application: 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde/O-Chlorobenzaldehyde is a raw material for the synthesis of acaricides such as tebufenpyrad and fluacrypyrim, as well as an intermediate for the production of plant growth regulator, indoxacarb. O-Chlorobenzaldehyde is also used to produce the pesticide, MiteClean, which can control mites on drought crops and fruit trees.
Medical application: 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde can be used to treat some diseases such as headaches, colds, and allergies. The oximation of 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde yields 2-Chlorobenzaldoxime, which can be further chlorinated to yield 2-Chlorobenzaldichloride, both of which are pharmaceutical intermediates. In medicine, it is mainly used for the synthesis of ampicillin (Cloxacillin).
In addition, 2-Chlorobenzaldehyde is also a synthetic raw material for many other organic compounds, such as fuels, spices, rubber additives, zinc plating brighteners, etc.
